Detect Languages

The Detect Languages functionality is available in the Tools dropdown menu. This tool allows you to detect the language(s) used in the input text. It's particularly useful when your text contains multiple languages or when you're unsure which language the text is written in.

How to Use the Detect Languages Tool

To detect the language(s) in your input text:

  • Open the Tools dropdown and select the Detect button.
  • If the text contains multiple languages, the tool will attempt to identify all languages present in the input area.
  • Note: The accuracy of detection depends on the context provided. Short texts or texts with common words may lead to incorrect detections.

Settings for Detect Languages

For enhanced usability, you can customize the detect functionality by clicking the gear button () next to the Detect button. This opens a modal with the following settings:

  • Automatically Add Detected Languages to Source Languages: When enabled, this option will automatically add the detected languages to the source languages selection.
  • If the option is not selected, the detected languages will be displayed as suggestions below the input text. You can manually add these languages to the source language list by clicking on the suggested inline list or adding them manually via the source languages box.

Best Practices

  • Use longer texts for better accuracy. Adding more sense to the input text can help the tool correctly detect languages, especially when the text contains common words shared between languages.
  • Be cautious with short texts. Short inputs may result in incorrect language detection due to insufficient context.
  • If you frequently work with multiple languages, enable the "Automatically Add Detected Languages" setting for convenience.
